- Temple Bar area: fun shops, check out Gallery of Photography & Meeting House Square (where an outdoor food market is held a couple days a week & sometimes outdoor movies are shown)
- Modern Art Museum: beautiful grounds as well as great art
- Malahide, Howth & DunLaoghaire: beautiful Dublin suburbs, easily accessible by DART train, all complete with their respective castles
- Grafton St: more fun shops & restaurants, check out the "buskers" i.e. street musicians - you never know which will achieve fame (you've seen 'Once' right?). Gabriela y Rodrigo, whose music I enjoyed live on many occasions, started out busking here.
- Cornucopia: delicious, veg-friendly cafeteria-style dining on Wicklow St (off Grafton) This is where I met Damien Rice & Lisa Hanigan. Cormac (my boyfriend at the time and talented photographer) and I met them there so he could show them photographs he had taken at a concert we attended.
- St Michans church: how many places do you get to touch a real un-live mummy?!!!
- Day tours that take you into the historical countryside outside Dublin (I liked "Over the Top" tours)
- Trinity College: view the "Book of Kells" illuminated manuscript (they only turn one page a day though!), also has a cool student art gallery
- Museum of Natural History (on Merrion Square): fascinating mixture of taxidermy animals and other specimens including a huge whale skeleton and skeletons of the extinct Irish Elk
- Merrion Square Park & St. Stephens Green: lovely green spaces to wander through
- Guinness tour: far from an intimate brewery tour but worth it just for the view from their sky bar
- Chester Beatty Library: art from all over the world, and a beautiful garden featuring a labyrinth of narrow paved paths to amble through to get there.
